My research centers on the Geoinformatics for Food-Energy-Water (GeoFEW). The specific research topics include Water Resources Planning and Management, GIS Analysis and Modeling, Energy Geography, and Agricultural Land Use. In recent years, I focus on interdisciplinary and emerging technologies, such as Geospatial AI, Physics-informed Deep Learning, Generative AI, social media data mining, and UAVs (drone). I have a firm commitment to high-risk and high-reward interdisciplinary research agenda stemming from theories of Socio-Technical Systems and Socio-Environmental Systems. I have received ~ 4 million grants from different agencies, including five grants from the NSF.
I currently serve as a Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, contributing to our R1 strategic efforts that strengthen university-wide grant development and research collaborations.
Techniques: Artificial Intelligence, Geospatial Analysis, Remote Sensing, Hydrologic Modeling, Social-Environmental Systems, Land Use Modeling, Social Media Analytics, UAVs (drones)
